Abstract

The present invention relates generally to methods and compositions useful for soothing skin inflammation in a subject. In some embodiments, methods and compositions disclosed herein comprise topical administration of a cosmetic formulation, wherein the cosmetic formulation comprises at least one transient receptor potential channel vanilloid subtype 1 (TRPV-1) antagonist. In some embodiments, the composition and/or method comprises plankton extract (e.g., saccharide isomerate),(common reed) extract,(China root) extract, and/or(pumpkin) seed extract.
