Abstract
A method for opto-acoustic imaging with a probe includes delivering a first pulse of optical energy to an optically absorbing volume with the probe at a first configuration proximate to the volume; receiving acoustic responses of the first pulse from the probe; delivering a second pulse of optical energy to the volume with the probe at a second configuration proximate to the volume; receiving acoustic responses of the second pulse from the probe; computing a probe configuration estimate using the acoustic responses of the first and second pulses; computing an image of the volume using the computed estimate and the acoustic responses of the first and second pulses; and, displaying the image to a display.
