Abstract
An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus body provided with an opening portion, an opening/closing member, a fixing unit, a unit configured to be attached to and detached from the apparatus body through the opening portion, and a control unit configured to execute a predetermined initializing operation based on a movement of the opening/closing member from the open position to the closed position, in a case where the control unit detects a movement of the fixing unit during a period from a movement of the opening/closing member from the closed position to the open position to the movement of the opening/closing member from the open position to the closed position, and not execute the predetermined initializing operation even if the opening/closing member is moved to the closed position, in a case where the control unit does not detect the movement of the fixing unit during the period.
