Abstract

An implantable glucose sensor includes: a housing, two injecting electrodes for injecting current into the tissue, two sensing electrodes for measuring impedance in the tissue, a coil within the housing for powering the sensor via a power source, a circuit board within the housing, the circuit board being electrically connected to the two sensing electrodes and the two injecting electrodes and the coil, and a communication unit for communicating data. The communication unit is connected to the circuit board. The two sensing electrodes and the two injecting electrodes are arranged on an outer surface of a first part of the housing. The outer surface of first part is of a convex shape. The two sensing electrodes and the two injecting electrodes are embedded in the convex shape so that they are flush with the outer surface of the convex shape.
