Abstract
A relay system couples an enlargement-side image formation plane to a reduction-side image formation plane that is a reduced enlargement-side image formation plane. The relay system has a concave first reflection surface, a convex second reflection surface, and a concave third reflection surface sequentially arranged in the direction in which the beams travel from the enlargement side toward the reduction side. The optical axis of the enlargement-side image formation plane and the optical axis of the reduction-side image formation plane are parallel to each other. The direction in which the beams are incident on the enlargement-side image formation plane is opposite the direction in which the beams are incident on the reduction-side image formation plane. The first and third reflection surfaces have different radii of curvature. The first, second, and third reflection surfaces each have an aspheric shape. Enlargement-side and reduction-side portions of the relay system are telecentric portions.
