Abstract
To process early data transmissions from a UE, a distributed unit (DU) of a base station transmits, by processing hardware, a preconfigured uplink resource (PUR) configuration to the UE in a release message that instructs the UE to transition to an inactive state (). While the UE is in the inactive state, the DU receives, by the processing hardware from the UE, a data packet via a PUR resource configured in the PUR configuration ().
