Abstract
A cutting tool comprising a base material and a coating disposed on the base material, wherein the coating comprises a first layer, the first layer consists of a MoClayer formed from a compound represented by MoCor a TaClayer formed from a compound represented by TaC, the compound represented by MoCconsists of a hexagonal crystal structure, the x is 0.40 or more and 0.60 or less, the compound represented by TaCcomprises 95% by mass or more of a hexagonal crystal structure, and the y is 0:40 or more and 0.60 or less.
