Abstract

A process and a signal processing unit for determining a first pneumatic indicator (P) and a second pneumatic indicator (P) for the breathing activity of a patient, wherein the two values describe the activity of two different regions of the respiratory system. In one alternative of the present invention, two respiratory signals (Sig, Sig) are generated from measured values. The two values (P, P) are determined with the use of these respiratory signals (Sig, Sig) and of a predefined function (Fkt) and of predefined relationships (Zus, Zus).
