Abstract
The present disclosure relates to a 5generation (5G) or 6generation (6G) communication system for supporting a higher data rate. Provided is a method performed by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system. The method may include: receiving, from a base station (BS), configuration information associated with the UE to leave a radio resource control (RRC) connection state for a multi-universal subscriber identity module (MUSIM) operation; based on the configuration information, transmitting, to the BS, information indicating a preferred RRC state when the UE leaves the RRC connection state, and starting a timer; and transitioning to an RRC idle state when the timer expires.
