Abstract
An optical display, suitable for use in a wearable device such as a headset, comprises a pixelated illumination array and a fiber bundle, optionally in the form of a plate. The plate is formed of a plurality of parallel optical fibers extending in the direction of the thickness of the plate, the fibers are of at least two different lengths and are arranged in a spatially sequential pattern over at least a part of the plate, and the array is arranged to provide illumination out of the fibers. Different length fibers may be illuminated to present images at different distances from the user's eyes. The fiber bundle plate may also form part of an image capturing device and be used in the creation of a depth map for a captured image.
