Abstract
Provided herein are various aspects related to increasing the proportion of omega-3 fatty acid in seed oil produced by a plurality ofplants, which have been modified to produce seed oil comprising at least one of EPA, DHA and DPA. It relates to a method to increase the proportion of long-chain omega-3 fatty acid in seed oil produced by a plurality ofoilseed plants comprising growing theoilseed plants in the presence of an increased amount of nitrogen as compared to a standard amount of nitrogen, wherein theoilseed plants have been modified to produce seed oil with at least one of EPA, DHA and DPA.
