Abstract

A correlation matrix calculation unit calculates a correlation matrix Rfor each data element of the frame data. A blood flow luminance image forming unit forms a blood flow extraction filter Pon the basis of an eigenvalue λof a rank equal to or lower than a first threshold rank, the eigenvalue being obtained by singular value decomposition on the correlation matrix R, and an eigenvector w, wcorresponding to the eigenvalue λi and applies the blood flow extraction filter Pto frame data F, therebyto forming a blood flow luminance image U. A tissue image forming unit forms a tissue image including tissue components on the basis of a signal value of each data element forming the plurality of pieces of the frame data. A blood flow extraction image forming unit subtracts the tissue image from the blood flow luminance image U, thereby forming a blood flow extraction image U.
