Abstract

An oxygenating system for treating an atmosphere of a magnetic storage device can include an oxygenating material inside a sealed casing of the magnetic storage device and comprising an oxygenated salen of formula (I): where M can be a metal selected from Co, Ni, Mn, Fe or Cu, and R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8 are independently substitutions on aromatic and ethylene diamine portions such as, but not limited to, H, F, Cl, Br, I, carbonyl, carboxyl, hydroxyl, alkyl, aryl, amine, amide, nitro, or other typical electron withdrawing groups or electron donating groups.
