Abstract
A steering unit () is provided for a bicycle (), in particular for an electric bicycle, and a bicycle () equipped with the steering unit () also is provided. The steering unit () has handle bars () for connecting the steering unit () to the bicycle (). At least one handle () is arranged and/or formed on the handle bars () for gripping with a hand. Operating safety of the bicycle () is improved by providing the steering unit () with at least one photonic mixer device () for detecting finger positions of the hand gripping the handle ().
