Abstract
Provided is a failure detection device for an electric actuator for an emergency stop device that can improve maintainability of an electric device portion. The failure detection device for the electric actuator for the emergency stop device detects a failure of the electric actuator (). The electric actuator actuates a drive mechanism that drives the elevator emergency stop device, and includes a movable element () mechanically connected to the drive mechanism and a first electromagnet () and a second electromagnet () facing the movable element. The failure detection device includes: a position detector () configured to detect a position of the movable element; and a controller () configured to detect a failure of the electric actuator based on a position detection signal from the position detector. The controller issues a command to cut off energization of the first electromagnet during standby of the electric actuator, and then detects a failure of the second electromagnet based on the position detection signal.
