Abstract
An optical component () is disclosed comprising a plurality of layers (), each layer comprising a core portion () and a shell portion () enveloping the core portion, wherein the core portion is made of a first material and the shell portion is made of a second material, the first material and the second material having a different transmissivity. Also disclosed are a luminaire comprising such an optical component and a method of manufacturing such an optical component.
