Abstract
A heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and/or refrigeration (HVAC&R) system () includes a vapor compression system () having an evaporator (), a condenser (), and a compressor (). The compressor () is configured to guide a refrigerant therethrough in a normal operating mode of the vapor compression system () and in a free cooling mode of the vapor compression system (). The HVAC&R system () also includes a controller () configured to enable supply of power to a motor () of the compressor () in the normal operating mode and to suspend supply of power to the motor () of the compressor () in the free cooling mode.
