Abstract

Disclosed herein are methods and systems for distinguishing a target gas from other target gases, which involve a configuration of a light source () and paper tape () such that light () emitted from the light source () can reflect off the paper tape (). A reflected portion () of the light () can be detected, as well as the humidity and optionally the temperature. The light () can emit in at least three wavelengths selected from red, green, blue, and ultra-violet wavelengths, and pattern recognition can be used to identify and/or distinguish the target gas from the group of target gases based on wavelength detection information and the one or more of the humidity and the temperature.
