A sheet processing machine () with a jam detection device (), the jam detection device () comprising a light emitting element and a light receiving element forming a light barrier in a detection zone () of a processing station of the sheet processing machine (). The jam detection device () further comprises a control unit () being connected to the light receiving element and being adapted to register if the light barrier is interrupted.
