Abstract
The present application pertains to a sunscreen comprising an emulsion such as a water in oil emulsion. The emulsion comprises: an oil phase comprising from about 15 to about 25% zinc oxide, polyhydroxystearic acid, and a mixture comprising one or more esters; and an aqueous phase comprising water, a salt, glycerol, an aloe compound, androot. Advantageously, the sunscreens described here may surprisingly and unexpectedly exhibit an increase in sun protection factor after being immersed in water. The sunscreens are also environmentally-friendly, lightweight, non-comedogenic, and non-greasy.
