Abstract
An illumination system (), especially for medical applications, is provided which, using a light source () as a starting point and a beam splitter () in a free-beam optical unit, forms two illumination light arms (), by which a respective oblique illumination (), preferably an adaptive respective oblique illumination, can be realized. In the process, the arising illumination field () can be adapted to a current field of view of an associated imaging system () by an adjustable beam shaping optical unit () in the respective illumination light arm ().
