Scarf facesare machined at a heeling angle θon a veneerby adjusting the heeling angle θfor a desired camber h using the following Equation (1): With the configuration, double cutting of the veneerby a circular sawcan be effectively prevented. Since the camber h is set desirably, the risk can be reduced that the scarf facesonly partially join each other, and a space can be secured to retain an adhesive Ad between arc concavities. Thus, when the veneersare joined together at the scarf faces, the adhesive Ad is unlikely to seep out onto the surfaces of the veneers. As a result, the scarf facescan be properly joined together.
