Abstract

A pneumatic module () and a process supply a patient with breathing gas. An inlet () connects a medical gas source and an outlet () via a main flow duct () with a flow valve (), setting a downstream volume flow, and a pressure relief valve () downstream of the flow valve () that vents the main flow duct () when a pressure is exceeded. A control duct (), connected to a relief valve control port (), branches off from the main flow duct () at a branch () upstream of the flow valve (). A pressure control unit (), arranged in the control duct, sets a flow value through the control duct (), and acts on the control port () for setting a maximum pressure. The control port () is connected to a compensating element () providing a compensating volume () for the control duct ().
