Abstract
A filter element assembly () is disclosed comprising: a filter element () for location in a housing () of a filter (), comprising a wall () of a filtration medium which defines a hollow space (), for a gas stream to flow from the space through the wall, the filtration medium including a filtration layer (), and a drainage layer () located outside the filtration layer, first () and second () end caps at opposite ends of the wall, one including a port () for a gas stream which communicates with the space; and a drainage promoter () comprising a fin () which can be fitted to the filter element so that it extends at least part way along the element, and compresses the drainage layer along at least part of its length, to promote drainage of liquid which has collected in the drainage layer.
