A method for producing a cell stack () for battery cells () comprises at least the following steps: a) feeding in at least a first material strip () comprising a first material; b) making a first cut into at least the first material strip (), thereby forming at least one strip-like transport section () having tensile strength; c) combining the first material strip () with at least a second material strip () comprising a second material, in order to form a partial stack (); d) attaching the partial stack () thus formed at a first attachment site by means of a first movable clamping apparatus (); e) replenishing at least one material strip () and attaching the partial stack () thus formed at a second attachment site by means of a second movable clamping apparatus; f) making a second cut of the attached partial stack (), whereby the transport section () is cut off; g) opening the clamping apparatuses (); and h) arranging at least two partial stacks () to form a cell stack ().
