Abstract

A power supply device includes a first switch having one end configured to be connected to a first DC power supply; a first capacitor connected between another end of the first switch and a reference potential; a second switch having one end configured to be connected to a second DC power supply; a second capacitor connected between another end of the second switch and the reference potential; first and second DC-DC converters connected in parallel between another end of the first switch and another end of the second switch; and a controller. The controller includes a stepping-down operation mode, a boosting operation mode, and a boosting and stepping-down operation mode. In the boosting and stepping-down operation mode, while the first switch and the second switch are turned off, the first DC-DC converter steps down a voltage of the first capacitor and output the stepped down voltage to the second capacitor, and simultaneously, the second DC-DC converter boosts a voltage of the second capacitor and output the boosted voltage to the first capacitor.
