Abstract

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a receiver device may receive encoded symbols, encoded using nonbinary polar coding, that include a set of information symbols, a set of partially frozen symbols, and a set of frozen symbols, where the set of information symbols and the set of partially frozen symbols indicate information bits, and where the set of information symbols indicate values in a set of values, and the set of partially frozen symbols indicate values in a proper subset of the set of values. The receiver device may decode the information bits from the encoded symbols. Numerous other aspects are described.
