Abstract

The application relates to methods and systems for reconstructing flow data from Magnetic Resonance Velocimetry data. Reconstruction occurs based on physical considerations of the system, and in particular leverages the Navier-Stokes Equations to provide physically realistic outputs. The application also discloses systems and methods for compressing and decompressing measured flow data of a fluid. The method begins by receiving raw data encoding information in an imaging region I relating to a fluid velocity field. u*, within a subset of the imaging region I forming a region, Ω, enclosed by a boundary, δΩ. The boundary includes at least a physical boundary portion, Γ. From this data, a modelled flow field over the region Ω is extracted and a shape of the boundary δΩ is derived along with a kinematic viscosity, v, of the fluid. The modelled flow field is compressed by representing the flow field with the shape of the boundary, the kinematic viscosity, and inlet and/or outlet boundary conditions where an inlet and/or outlet exists.
