Abstract
An ultra wide band (UWB) antenna includes: a first antenna including a first planar cap portion that is disposed parallel to a ground plane; a second antenna including: a second planar cap portion that is disposed parallel to the ground plane and the first planar cap portion; an aperture; wherein the first antenna is disposed within the aperture; one or more inner edges that define a portion of the aperture; and a tapered portion that extends vertically and away from the one or more inner edges and toward the first antenna.
