Abstract

A disease risk assessment apparatus () includes an assessment unit () for assessing the risk of developing dementia in a subject, based on the concentration of an amino acid in the blood of the subject. The amino acid includes at least one selected from the group consisting of histidine, phenylalanine, leucine, isoleucine, methionine, threonine, glycine, glutamine, lysine, asparagine, homocysteine, cystathionine, S-adenosylmethionine, and S-adenosylhomocysteine.
