In a communication system, a first communication unitof an equipment servercommunicates messages in a common data format with plural device servers. A equipment control unitcontrols the access control systemincluding one or more passage restriction units, based on the message received by the first communication unit. The passage restriction unitsare provided in the buildingso as to be capable of restricting passage of plural devices. The device servertransmits the message to the equipment serverwhen the devicepasses through a place where the passage restriction unitis provided. The equipment control unitdetermines whether or not the message is invalid based on the message received by the first communication unit.
