Abstract
An electrodeincludes, as a catalyst, an alloy including three or more base metal elements, in which the three or more base metal elements are nearly equal in atomic composition proportion, and form a solid solution. Also, an electrodeincludes: a carbon fiber; and a catalyst including a base metal, at least a part of elements of the catalyst being chemically bonded to the carbon fiber. Further, the water electrolyzer includes an anode, a cathode, and a solid polymer electrolyte membrane provided between the anode and the cathode. The anode is the electrode, and/or the cathode is the electrode
