Abstract

A catheter system for removal of occlusive material in a body lumen. The catheter system includes a catheter body, extending between a distal end and a proximal end and having a proximal portion and a distal portion. The catheter body includes a filtration section having filter media configured to permit blood to pass through the lumen of the catheter body and inhibiting occlusive material from passing out of the catheter body. The catheter system also includes a control handle coupled to the proximal portion of the catheter body and a cutter assembly having a drive mechanism operatively coupled to the control handle. The cutter assembly includes a drive mechanism and a conveyor coupled to the drive mechanism and rotatable with the drive mechanism to convey occlusive material proximally within the catheter body and through the filtration section.
