Abstract
In one embodiment, a data storage device comprises a memory and one or more processors. The one or more processors, individually or in combination, are configured to: provide a host with an indication of an amount of data to cache in a memory of the host; receive, from the host, the amount of data for storage in the memory of the data storage device, wherein the host is configured to cache the amount of data in the memory of the host as a secondary copy; and write only a single copy of the amount of data in the memory of the data storage device, wherein the secondary copy stored in the memory in the host is available in an event of a failure to correctly write the single copy in the memory of the data storage device.
