Abstract
A communication method includes receiving, by a terminal device, first indication information from an access network device, determining a target bandwidth part (BWP) from a plurality of initial BWPs based on the first indication information, and monitoring a paging message in the target BWP. The plurality of initial BWPs are useable to page the terminal device that has not established a radio resource control (RRC) connection to the access network device.
