Abstract

To shorten the time required to sort target particles with sufficient purity, a particle sorter is provided. A particle sorterincluding a micro flow path cartridgehaving a first flow pathwith a detection areaand a sorting area, a second flow pathfor returning the target particle-containing sampleupstream from the detection regionof the first flow path, an installation unitof the micro flow path cartridge, a liquid feeding unit, a detection unitthat outputs a signal corresponding to the target particlespassing through the detection region, a sorting mechanismconfigured to perform a sorting operation of the target particle-containing samplein a sorting regionbased on the signal from the detection unit, and a control unitfor controlling the liquid feeding unitso as to return the sorted target particle-containing sampleupstream of the detection regionof the first flow pathvia the second flow path, and controlling the sorting mechanismso as to perform a sorting operation on the returned target particle-containing sample
