Abstract

An ammonia-burning combustion engine. In particular, the present invention relates to an internal combustion engine for the combustion of ammonia, the engine comprising one or more combustions chambers comprising an ammonia combustion catalyst. The invention further relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine by the combustion of ammonia, the method comprising contacting ammonia with a heated ammonia combustion catalyst in a combustion chamber of the engine to combust the ammonia.
