Abstract

The present disclosure provides a glass composition for chemical strengthening, the glass composition having a high alkali resistance and being suitable for achieving both the surface compressive stress and the compressive stress layer depth. The glass composition according to the present disclosure includes, as components, in mol %: 60 to 80% SiO; 1 to 5% AlO; 5 to 25% MgO; 0 to 5% CaO; 10 to 20% NaO; and 0 to 10% KO. A chemically strengthened glass article, for example, having a surface compressive stress of 650 to 950 MPa and a compressive stress layer depth of 7 to 17 μm can be provided using the glass composition.
