Abstract

A method performed by one or more nodes in a network of nodes, the network of nodes hosting a first private distributed ledger, the method comprising: receiving from one or more members of a first community, a bid to buy or sell energy for use in an energy usage cycle; recording the bids as transactions on the private distributed ledger, the transactions recorded on the private distributed ledger being visible to members of the first community only; and determining, using the one or more smart contracts, and based on the received bid(s), an indication of one or more parties with whom the respective members of the first community are to trade energy for the energy usage cycle; wherein the one or more smart contracts are anchored to a public distributed ledger.
