Abstract

A computer-implemented method, including storing, in a server computer located remote from a premises or vehicle, information regarding a personal control and monitoring account associated with a user and information regarding an itinerary or schedule of the user; receiving, from a user device, a first signal containing information regarding a control or monitoring operation to be performed at the premises or vehicle; receiving information regarding an IP address or position or location information regarding the user device; comparing the position or location of the user device with information regarding an expected position, location, or geographic location, of the user to determine if the user is authenticated; and authenticating the user and generating a control or monitoring signal for effectuating the control or monitoring operation at the premises or vehicle, or determining that the user is not authenticated and disregarding any instruction regarding any requested or instructed control or monitoring operation.
