Abstract

A method and device for container load state detection are disclosed herein. A device processor controls a sensor assembly to capture successive sets of sensor data depicting an interior of the container during a load process for the container. The processor, for successive sets of the sensor data, detects items placed in the container interior, and determines, based on the detected items, respective fullness indicators for the container interior. The processor detects, based on the fullness indicators, an idle time period for the container interior. Responsive to determining that the idle time period exceeds an inactivity threshold, the processor, when a current fullness indicator does not meet a target, sends a first notification to a client device associated with the container load, and when the current fullness indicator meets the target, sends a second notification to the client device, and monitors the sensor data for a container door closure event.
