Abstract
A method for producing an α-acyloxycarboxylic acid ester of Formula (1) is described. The method involves reacting an α-hydroxycarboxylic acid ester compound with an acylating agent in the presence of a catalyst comprising an iron halide compound. Rrepresents a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, an ethyl group, an n-propyl group, an isopropyl group, or a tert-butyl group, Rand Reach independently represent a methyl group or an ethyl group, and Rrepresents a linear, branched, or cyclic alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms.
