Abstract

The invention relates to an extract from, or a bioactive mixture consisting essentially of oleanolic acid and ursolic acid isolated from, for use in preventing and/or treating skin cancer, more specifically melanoma, and for reducing skin damage resulting from UV radiation. The invention also relates to uses and methods of treating skin cancer and reducing skin damage resulting from UV radiation using the extracts and/or bioactive mixture described. The invention further relates to an anticancer composition comprising the extracts and/or bioactive mixture, that inhibits angiogenesis and/or proliferation of cells associated with melanoma, as well as a sunscreen composition comprising the extracts and/or bioactive mixture.
