Abstract

A method of using a chlorination method to recycle metal elements in lithium batteries includes, organic components in the lithium battery are removed, so as to obtain a mixture of powders containing the positive-electrode material; the powders are heated and chlorinated by chlorine, at a heating temperature of 500-1200° C.; gas products of the chlorination are output through a gas-solid filtration device, and then two stages of desublimation are used, wherein the temperature during the first-stage desublimation is set to be below 306° C. and above 178° C., so that FeClis desublimated into solid deposition, which is used for recycling Fe element; the temperature of the second-stage desublimation is set to be below 178° C., so that AlClis desublimated into solid deposition, which is used for recycling Al element; solid products of the chlorination are taken out for recycling the Li element.
