Abstract

A vehicle monitoring system according to the present disclosure includes: an optical fiber for sensing () laid on a road (); a vehicle passage detection unit () configured to detect that a vehicle () has passed a predetermined location on the road (); an identification unit () configured to identify the vehicle () that has passed the predetermined location as a vehicle-to-be-monitored; and a reception unit () configured to receive sound information unique to the vehicle-to-be-monitored detected by the optical fiber for sensing (), in which the identification unit () identifies the vehicle-to-be-monitored based on the sound information unique to the vehicle-to-be-monitored.
