Abstract

An implant () includes a base (), and a sequence of at least two segments including a first segment () and a last segment (). The first segment () is pivotally linked to base (). Adjacent segments are interconnected at pivotal connections (). A bolt () has a threaded shaft () and a head (). The threaded shaft () is engaged in a threaded channel () of the base () so that rotation of the bolt () about a central axis of the threaded shaft () varies a degree of overlap between the base () and the bolt (). The last segment () and the head () define therebetween a spherical bearing (). Rotation of bolt () thus varies a distance between spherical hearing () and hinge pin (), thereby causing deflection of the sequence of segments.
