A method for reducing macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF or MMIF) cytokine or its biological activity, including the step of administering an isothiocyanate functional surfactant to a patient having a disease or condition wherein MIF cytokine or its biological activity is implicated in the disease or condition.
