Abstract

A security camera includes an image capture sensor and one or more motors for achieving a pan and/or tilt operation of the image capture sensor. A gyroscope sensor senses angular speed of the image capture sensor. A memory stores calibration data that includes an indication of the angular speed of the image capture sensor sensed by the gyroscope sensor while performing a pan and/or tilt operation of the image capture sensor. A controller is configured to subsequently compare the angular speed of the image capture sensor while performing a pan and/or tilt operation of the image capture sensor with the calibration data to identify a drift in the angular speed of the image capture sensor while performing a pan and/or tilt operation of the image capture sensor over time. The controller is configured to compensate for the drift during subsequent pan and/or tilt operations.
