Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for communication between a communication system of a vehicle () and a public land mobile network (). To this end, a first piece of information representative of the current power consumption of the vehicle () is received; a second piece of information representative of an amount of electricity available in the vehicle (), for example in the battery of the vehicle (), is received; and a third piece of information representative of the target time during which the vehicle () wishes to remain connected to the network () is received. Based on the first, second and third pieces of information, the network () determines which power saving mode should be assigned to the communication system of the vehicle () so that the vehicle can maintain a connection to the network () for the desired time.
