Abstract
A method () and apparatus-for carrying out the method of mitigating fuel in oil in an internal combustion engine of a hybrid electric vehicle, the method comprising: detecting events in which the engine is on for less than a predetermined engine on duration and a temperature of engine oil in the engine is below a predetermined temperature for the engine on duration (); counting the detected events (); when the number of detected events counted reaches a threshold count value and the vehicle speed exceeds a threshold vehicle speed value, running the engine for a predetermined warm up duration or until the temperature of the engine oil exceeds a predetermined warm up temperature ().
